This Privacy Policy describes how Chord Master (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) handles information when you use our mobile application on Android and iOS.

By using Chord Master, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Summary

Chord Master is a local-first music creation app. Your chords, scales, tabs, and folders are stored on your device. We do not operate user accounts, do not sell your data, and do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs in the app.

Limited data may be processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store when you buy or restore premium features, or when the app checks whether a newer version is available in the store.

Information We Collect

1. Content you create (stored on your device)

The app stores music-related data you enter, including for example:

Folder names and organization
Guitar string chords, piano chords, scales, and chord tabs
Chord names, fret positions, and related editor settings

This data is kept in a local SQLite database on your phone or tablet. It is not uploaded to our servers because we do not operate backend servers for user content.

2. App settings and preferences (stored on your device)

We save preferences locally using on-device storage (for example SharedPreferences), such as:

Light / dark / system theme
Theme color
Which creation types are enabled in the UI
Whether premium features are unlocked on this device

3. Premium purchase status

If you purchase Premium (one-time in-app product):

Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS) processes payment and provides purchase receipts.
The app stores a local flag that premium is unlocked and can restore purchases through the store’s APIs.

We do not receive your full payment card details. Billing is handled entirely by Google or Apple under their respective privacy policies.

4. Data you export or import (under your control)

From Settings → Data Management, you may:

Export your database or JSON to a file you choose
Import data from a file you select

Export/import uses the system file picker. Files go only where you save or select them. We do not access those files unless you initiate import.

5. Information we do not collect

We do not intentionally collect:

Name, email, or phone number (no account system in the app)
Precise location
Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data
Advertising identifiers for ad tracking
Analytics or crash-reporting data sent to our own services

How We Use Information

We use on-device data only to:

Display and edit your creations
Remember your theme and UI preferences
Enable or restore premium features after a valid store purchase
Export or import your data when you request it
Check whether a newer app version is listed on the Play Store or App Store (optional “Check for updates” in Settings)

We do not use your content for advertising or profiling.

Network and Third-Party Services

The app may connect to the internet only for purposes such as:

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may share information only:

With platform providers (Google / Apple) as required for billing, restore, or store version checks, as described above
When you export data — you choose where files are saved and who receives them
If required by law — for example a valid legal request, where applicable

We do not share your local chord database with other users or third-party marketers.

Data Retention and Deletion

On your device: Data remains until you delete it in the app, uninstall the app, or clear app storage in system settings. Uninstalling typically removes the local database and preferences.
Export files: Retained wherever you store them; deleting those files is your responsibility.
Store purchase records: Retained according to Google’s or Apple’s policies; use Restore in the app or your store account to recover premium on a new device.

To remove app data: uninstall Chord Master or clear its storage in Android/iOS system settings.

Security

We rely on your device’s operating system to protect local files. No method of storage is 100% secure; keep your device locked and updated.

Because content stays on-device, back up important work using Export in Data Management if you replace your device.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your region (for example GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data.

For Chord Master:

Access / portability: Use Export in Data Management.
Deletion: Delete items in the app, clear app data, or uninstall.
Premium / billing questions: Contact Google Play or Apple Support; we cannot refund or view full payment details.

International Users

The app is offered globally. Data you create stays on your device in your country unless you export it elsewhere. Store providers may process purchase data in accordance with their own international practices.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be noted in app release notes. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
